Customers and Community
We continue to play an active role across the communities we serve having supported around 200 separate charitable and non charitable organisations in the last year alone.
A key element of this community support activity is our new environmental campaign keen to be green which is designed to help community groups, schools and our own staff realise a range of environmental activity – from recycling and energy efficiency projects to creating and protecting wildlife schemes and planting areas.
Encapsulated within this initiative is the WPD Tree Scheme which encourages and supports the planting of deciduous native trees, shrubs and hedgerows in partnership with conservation experts like the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) and the Silvanus Trust.
Each year we aim to plant at least 5,000 native
trees, shrubs and hedgerows in our network area to help improve and enhance the environment.
We are committed to forging effective, long-lasting working relationships with partners who represent a range of environmental and heritage interest bodies like the UK’s regional Wildlife Trusts, the BTCV and archaeological and ancient monument protection groups.
Such partnerships are helping us to safeguard the natural and historical richness of our exceptionally beautiful area of operation.
